Sean McFarland & Jake Longstreth

Sean McFarland’s work explores the relationships between the processes of image making, photographic truth, and the representation of landscape. He earned his MFA from the California College of the Arts in 2004. He has exhibited at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Berkeley Art Museum, White Columns, NY, and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. He has received the 2005 Phelan Art Award in Photography, 2009 Baum Award for an Emerging American Photographer, 2009 John Guttmann Photography Fellowship, and a 2011 Eureka Fellowship. His work is the collections at SFMOMA, Milwaukee Art Museum, Oakland Museum, Berkeley Art Museum, and the Whitney Museum of American Art Library. Sean currently lives in San Francisco and teaches at the San Francisco Art Institute.

Jake Longstreth’s work embodies a restless exploration of landscape painting in a myriad of forms and approaches; from photo-based architectural work to visionary landscapes, Longstreth’s work concerns the territory of what the hand painted image can express today. He earned his MFA from the California College of the Arts in 2005. A recipient of the 2008 Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant and a 2007 Artist in Residence at the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts, Nebraska City, NE, Longstreth has been featured in Art in America, Artforum, Artweek, Turps Banana and San Francisco Chronicle. His work is in the collections of the Crocker Museum, Oakland Museum, and the Whitney Museum of American Art Library. Longstreth lives and works in Los Angeles.
